education

Best practices to help and advocate for victims of drug assault in 4 steps.

  • Explain who you are, why you are there, confidentiality, and privacy.

  • Ask the victim about how they are doing if they are able to or are okay with speaking about their situation. Get their version of what occurred.

  • Explain options to the victim, help them in speaking with medical staff, and contacting family.

  • Help logistically execute option that victim selects.

ABOUT ME

This initiative stems from both personal experiences being victims of drug assault and having a background in psychology, social work, and the law/conflict management.

I believe each victim has a right to empathetic, informative care. I recognize that some emergency rooms and hospitals have a model of care that is not a good fit for victims of drug abuse. It is my goal to help educate those working in these settings to ensure they are equipped to effectively help victims of drug assault. And to provide victims of drug assault reliable resources and a place to tell their story!
